Think: Malt and mixed nuts with a creamy body.

It’s been about a year and a half since we last offered a coffee from Brazil for brewing; they generally work very well as espresso, but every so often it’s good to mix things up. Our friends at the Collaborative Coffee Source brought in a few great lots from Carmo Coffees (located in Carmo de Minas, about 5 hours from Rio de Janeiro). Carmo Coffees has been doing exceptional work in increasing quality and traceability for its producers, thereby increasing premiums paid. This coffee comes from Fazenda IP, named after Isidro Pereira, the father of current owner Luiz Paulo. Over the last few decades, Luiz has expanded the scope of operations at the farm to focus on quality and innovation, ideas he believes are mandatory for the continued success of coffee growers. To that end, this particular lot is a full natural Yellow Bourbon, which yields a very smooth and creamy profile; look more for the nuttier, maltier side of natural coffees here rather than the fruit bombs you generally get from African naturals. We’re very pleased to offer you this single producer, single variety coffee from an origin that doesn’t often get a lot of space on our offerings. Enjoy it while we’ve got it around!
