I am asked often about how to store coffee when one takes the beans to their home. Oxygen is what steals coffee’s “freshness”…thus keeping oxygen away from coffee is the priority.
There are two things that one can do to keep the process down to the slowest possible:
- One can keep the coffee in an airtight container and
- Keep the coffee in the whole bean state for as long as possible (the more surface area that is exposed to oxygen the quicker coffee will stale).
The goal is to enjoy the beans within a week of purchase at The Commonplace Coffeehouse & Roastery. We always encourage folks to only buy what they will use with about 1 week. Continuing to pursue the perfect cup…
